Married | Nick & Sarah
I recently had the opportunity to photograph this lovely couple’s wedding day! The day was filled with love, celebration, family, friends, laughter, and happiness! I asked the happy couple to share a little bit about their journey and relationship.
1. How did you two meet?
Sarah: Which time is she talking about?
1. The time where we were at 4H camp and I was extremely shy while you on the other hand were running around the campfire acting like a monkey and gave me a banana.
Nick: We kind of met three different times in our lives. The first one she describes was when we were very young and just knew each other existed. After the second one we kind of hung out for a few months but then lost contact when I went off to college. The third time was the lucky time :) We were both back home in Upper Sandusky the night before fathers day and she just happened to walk past my parents place as I was speaking to my parents on the back porch. We contacted one another 10 -15 minutes later via Facebook and text messages and ended up at the Blue Room that evening sharing a few drinks and talking for many hours. Since then we were together almost every weekend.
2. How did Nick propose?
Sarah: Nick proposed on my parents front porch. It was the scene of many long encounters when I was just 16 and Nick was 18. He had all of my family in on it and for some reason I didn’t think anything of how bossy all of my sister were. My sister Liz had asked me if I would help her with something outside and then there was Nick. I had no clue what was going on for a good 10 seconds. I don’t think I heard or saw anyone else but him at that moment. I eventually made my way over to him and he said the sweetest things to me that I am getting teary eyed thinking about now. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and I said yes. He didn’t hear me though since I buried myself in his neck and said “I think that was a yes”. That’s when I realized that my whole family was outside with us watching, and one of my sisters was taking pictures. Nick’s family was waiting outside too. Apparently there were supposed to be candles lining the porch but since it was windy they wouldn’t stay lit.
Nick: I knew that I wanted to marry Sarah a few months before I actually proposed. I wanted to make sure that everything was right. I knew that her sister Liz was moving to France and I wanted Sarah to have a chance to celebrate this special moment with her. Liz helped me plan the evening and it went off almost without a hitch…Darn wind!
3.Describe your relationship in one sentence.
Sarah: Our relationship is loving, generous and well worth the wait.
Nick: Our relationship grows stronger everyday as we continue to learn new things to love about one another. Even though it took us almost 11 years since we first kind of dated to finally realize we were meant to be together, it was worth the wait!
Congratulations and blessings to you both as you begin this new chapter together!
